As an artist I try to depict the intimacy of the rural spirit in my paintings. For me, nature is the true inspiration of the subjects of my paintings. The bold lines & bright colours is a reflection of “Indianness” in a way. I am very much inspired by the simplicity & uncomplicated lives of the rustics.
Most of my paintings show the likes of women in their day to day activities & it reflects my keen insight on the womans thought and feelings.
"I represent the village in the city"
I am very much inspired by the paintings done by the Nandalal Bose, Kshitindranath Mazumdar, A. Ramchandran, Ramananda Bandyopadhyay & above all Indian miniature paintings. I always try to use the texture of the Nepali paper pasted on my canvas. It’s soft, creamy yellow fiber makes a depth & dimension to my paintings.
